Koudum
Experience the heart of south-west Friesland
You know Koudum from the many recreational possibilities on and around the water. Koudum is centrally located in the Frisian Zuidwesthoek, next to the coast of the lake of IJsselmeer and the forests of Gaasterland.
'Beantsjesdei' event
A famous phenomenon are the beans of Koudum. Until the sixties there were extensive horticultural activities in Koudum. Greens merchants from the whole country came to Koudum to buy their products. Especially ‘French beans’ were a popular vegetable. And nowadays it still is! Because every year the 'Beantsjesdei' is organised, which is the Frisian word for 'Beans day'. On this day various activities are organized around the famous French beans from Koudum!
Tips
• Visit the corn-mill 'Korenmolen De Vlijt' as well! You experience the authentic Friesland of the past days.
• When you sail along Koudum, step out of your boat. The many catering facilities and cosy terraces invite you to visit the village.
