Menaam

Menaam is a cozy village, located only 10 km west of Leeuwarden. Despite the small distance, it feels like being far away from traffic and noisiness. Surrounded by beautiful scenery full of nature and agriculture, it forms the perfect location to relax body and mind. Nowadays consisting of around 2600 inhabitants, the village has a rich history as it was established a few centuries before Christ, when it all started with a mound. Around this mound step by step the today´s village was formed. Still this mound represents the center of the Menaam and emphasizes the Protestant church from the 19th century, which houses a beautiful interior and an ancient organ.
The gracht, which flows through the village, makes the cozy atmosphere perfect and Menaam to a must see destination. Especially cyclists will get their effort worth. As a crossing point for two famous cycling routes, which will guide you through the lovely Frisian landscape, Menaam will welcome you with an enjoyable and pleasant stop over. If you pass “it feintsje fan Menaam” he definitely will wave behind you and will be looking forward to your next visit.
