Welcome to FrieslandWonderland, the one and only online public platform for cultural history and tourism in Friesland. On this website we present all Frisian villages, cities, main regions, and regions. We tie everything together so that you can easily find your way to the corresponding information per location.
But there is more, ... much more. For the enthusiast, we have a wealth of digital historical maps for each location, the most beautiful of which are derived from the Atlas of Schotanus and the Atlas of Eekhoff. These historical maps can be studied on Google maps at the touch of a button. We have extensive information about all medieval churches in Friesland. We have events, attractions, museums, nature reserves, and more.
FrieslandWonderland is also linked to seperate digital platforms for Village Canons and Village Archives. Frisian villages document their local heritage information on these linked platforms and this information also finds its way to this website. Examples of linked archives are Dorpsarchief-Easterein and Dorpsarchief-Wâldsein.
Recently we were able to add a new initiative to this website in the form of the Friesland-Blog. On this blog, the everyday-specialty of Friesland is discussed in short stories with a funny or serious quip.
As you can see, there is a lot to see on this website. Take the time to look around and 'lose yourself' in the many beautiful things about Friesland that can be found here.
