Rond het Slotermeer
The Slotermeer somehow appeals to the imagination. It is one of the largest Frisian lakes, forms the backdrop for spectacular skûtsjesilen several times a year and is a unique part of the Elfstedentocht. The lake owes its name to the smallest and most characteristic of the Frisian Eleven Cities and forms the link between the lake area and Gaasterland.
Of course, the Slotermeer with the waterfront towns of Woudsend, Sloten, and Balk is primarily a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. But also onshore there is much to enjoy in this area. Drive, cycle or take a walk around the lake and experience it yourself: peace, space, beautiful views, nature, cultural history, tranquil villages, two cozy water sports villages and the unique town of Sloten.
